Job Description Candidates with a minimum of 2 years advanced practice experience preferred; Urology experience preferred.
Ensures continuity within the urology service, provides consultative services and primary inpatient patient care. Coordinates outpatient follow‑up for high‑acuity patients. Familiarity with complex patient histories allows for enhanced continuity of care improving patient safety. Fosters efficiency and integration for Urology service. Provides daily patient care in a multidisciplinary fashion with physician trainees and Urologists. Hours are day shift.
General Summary The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works within the multidisciplinary clinical team to provide individualized patient care through history and physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, medication ordering, prescribing and management, and patient/family education.
Advance Practice Provider Transition into Practice Fellowship Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago offers an APP transition into practice fellowship for all new graduate APPs. The first year of employment includes quarterly didactic sessions, structured mentorship, precepted practice‑based learning, and standardized competencies. APPs in the fellowship are hired as paid employees.
Essential Job Functions
Provides expert clinical care, education, consultation, advocacy, research, leadership and mentorship.
Manages primary, acute, and chronic health problems through comprehensive history and physical examination assessment and diagnosis, including palliative and end‑of‑life care.
Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures.
Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
Promotes the advancement of the profession at Lurie Children’s and the community‑at‑large.
Collaborates and coordinates care with medical team to deliver evidence‑based care and establish best practices in clinical care.
Participates in research design, implementation, and interpretation.
Meets the Medical Staffs Allied Health Practitioners core measures of performance related to patient care, medical knowledge, practice‑based learning and improvement, interpersonal communication skills, professionalism, and system‑based practice.
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co‑workers, and others.
Role may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school appropriate for certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Practitioner Physician Assistant; CNS certification not acceptable if hired after January 1, 2010.
Two (2) years of relevant clinical experience preferred.
Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APRN/PA is required.
Clinical privileges through credentialing by the Medical Staff Office achieved within 90 days of hire.
Basic Life Support certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification and/or other specialty certification required within 6 months of employment.
Any other certification required for specialty area.
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Education Master’s Degree: Physician Assistant (Required)
Pay Range $118,560.00 – $195,624.00 Salary
