Georgia‑Pacific is currently seeking a Regional Purchasing Manager for our cellulose operations. The ideal candidate is a talented leader with strategic and tactical purchasing and inventory experience, proven supervisory experience, a track record of creating value through strong relationships with a diverse group of customers, a principled entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to deliver a supply‑chain capability that optimizes total cost of ownership to operations.
This role reports to the Procurement Director, Containerboard and Cellulose and is based at GP Center in downtown Atlanta, GA, or one of our manufacturing facilities in Brunswick, GA, New Augusta, MS (Leaf River), or Monroeville, AL (ARC). It requires travel of 30‑50% of the time.
What You Will Do
Manage and lead direct reports, fostering an inclusive environment and building a high‑performing team.
Leverage the team’s comparative advantage to maximize results for GP.
Align the team with the SS&P vision, operations vision, and accelerated sourcing and manufacturing transformations.
Contribute as a key member of the SS&P organization and the cellulose leadership teams, owning designated strategic business responsibilities.
Execute standard work processes and achieve disciplined operations in sourcing execution.
Accountable for cellulose spend against defined buying channels, category strategies, and financial controls.
Manage purchasing operations across multiple facilities with high spend and high‑volume, multi‑commodity environments.
Develop strong internal and external partnerships aligned with strategic initiatives and supply‑chain strategies.
Lead a team of purchasing professionals toward excellence in stewardship.
Ensure disciplined, optimized purchasing departments that support asset maintenance work processes and are backed by corporate leadership and mill operation teams.
Develop and maintain category strategies where applicable.
Drive purchasing and inventory transformation, implement changes, conduct root‑cause analysis, and execute corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of purchasing or category management experience.
Supervisory experience.
Experience driving transformation and implementing changes.
Willingness to travel 30‑50% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience with ISO standards, 5S, and/or Lean Six Sigma.
Experience evaluating spend within operations and improving procurement processes.
Experience in the manufacturing industry.
