Payroll Specialist

American Exchange Group Location: Full time at our NYC HQ, with training in Somerset, NJ (Onsite) Reports To: Payroll Manager Position Overview American Exchange Group is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processing across multiple company entities. This role will ensure accurate and timely payroll execution, compliance with federal and state regulations, and seamless integration with HR and Finance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has experience handling complex, multi-entity payroll cycles. Key Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly and/or semi-monthly payroll for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Maintain payroll records, employee data, and ensure proper documentation for new hires, terminations, and status changes. Collaborate with HR and Finance to reconcile payroll, benefits, and deductions. Manage multi-state payroll requirements, including tax filings, wage garnishments, and compliance with local labor laws. Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, timekeeping, and deductions with professionalism and confidentiality. Prepare and distribute payroll reports for leadership and finance teams. Partner with external vendors (e.g., BambooHR, Paychex, or other systems) to troubleshoot issues and improve payroll processes. Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2s, audits, and reconciliations. Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 1-3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in the fashion or wholesale industry. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Experience managing 401k and health benefits preferred. Proficiency in payroll/HRIS systems (ADP, BambooHR, Paychex, or similar). Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. What We Offer
