About This Position Location: Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, OK. This is an office‑based position; remote and hybrid work are not currently available.

Fire Protection Publications is a mission‑driven, values‑based organization dedicated to producing high‑quality educational content for firefighters and first responders around the world. The Project Specialist – Curriculum will focus on curriculum development for Fire Protection Publications.

Major Responsibilities

Research, compose, and edit original text for drafts of new or revised curriculum materials, evaluation instruments, multimedia materials, fire service training manuals, marketing materials, and newsletters.

Assist with planning and reviewing illustrations, photos, multimedia, and other support materials for curriculum; ensure all material is complete and accurate.

Perform editorial review of curriculum drafts and related advertising materials for technical accuracy, consistency, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and style.

Ensure that all components of major publications are complete, accurately identified, and meet publication standards.

Collaborate with the production department on formats, styles for final copy, and layout diagrams and illustrations.

Develop and prepare instructional and student support materials, including lesson outlines, quizzes, classroom activities, and study guides.

Participate in the planning of Fire Protection Publications procedures and recommend new methods to improve overall operations.

Engage in focus groups related to FPP curriculum materials and products.

Represent FPP and IFSTA as needed and serve as the Lead Instructional Developer for IFSTA validation committees.

Deliver presentations and curriculum orientations at seminars, conferences, university functions, or staff meetings upon request.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Details

Full‑time position.

Salary range: $21.25 – $29.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, conferred on or before the agreed start date.

One year of related work experience.

Skills, Proficiencies, And/or Knowledge

Ability to analyze technical information and develop curriculum material and evaluation instruments.

Excellent editing, proofreading, and writing skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.

Highly organized with strong time‑management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and guide a group toward a common goal.

Attention to detail and ability to set and maintain schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Secondary, Adult, Vocational, or Occupational Education, Educational Psychology, Technical Writing, Fire Protection, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.

Certifications, Registrations, And/or Licenses

Firefighter, Fire Officer, Fire Instructor certification; vocational education in emergency service field.
