Essential Functions
Analyzes, investigates and adjudicates life and annuity claims to ensure the timely and accurate payment of contract benefits
Obtains reports, medical records, eligibility, and/or additional information required to investigate and process claims
Responds to all agents’, policyowners’ and beneficiaries’ written, telephone and e-mail inquiries regarding benefit information, claims, and appeals
Collaborates with peers and management to ensure consistent interpretations of policy provisions and claim payment methods
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalency
Associate’s degree with courses in business or marketing customer service preferred
Two years of experience with life and annuity claims
LOMA and/or International Claims Association (ICA) coursework preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Good knowledge of life and annuity claims processing including federal and state regulations and tax legalities
Good investigative and problem‑solving abilities
Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills
Accurate data entry skills with a keyboarding speed of 40‑45 wpm
Strong knowledge of computer systems
Ten‑key by touch
Strong math and bookkeeping skills
The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either of the following:
$42,134 - $58,077 or $46,466 - $64,023
A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
