The Accounting Manager works under the direction of the CFO. This role is responsible for managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and assisting with the overall operation of the accounting department. The Accounting Manager will have 4 direct reports. This is a future management growth opportunity within non-profit education. In-office position Job Duties And Responsibilities

Responsible for day-to-day activities of the Accounting Department, including hands-on accountant functions and supervision of an Accounting Clerk, Accounts Payable Supervisor, and two Senior Ledger Accountants. Monthly general ledger accounting and reconciliation responsibilities including journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, and other ad hoc projects. Ensure the accuracy and productivity of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, inventory, fixed asset records, general ledger accounting and account reconciliations. Complete the monthly closing of the general ledger. Prepare monthly financial statements and meet all corporate reporting deadlines. Become an in-house expert on Anthology Campus Nexus (CampusVue) student accounting software, and train/assist other team members with data extractions/analysis. Assist in managing the external audit process. Prepare finance portion of IPEDS submission. Prepare annual tax compliance records for external tax return preparation. Other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution. MBA a plus. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. 5+ years combined experience with CPA firm and/or financial accounting, including general ledger journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, etc. Non-profit or higher education experience preferred. Experience with MS Office and Excel (pivot tables & vlookups) required. Experience with CampusVue and accounting software packages (Acumatica, Sage Fixed Assets) a plus. Reference and background check required for employment, including credit check. Protect student and employee privacy when handling confidential financial information. Ability to remain stationary for extended periods; sufficient visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, read materials, use telephone, etc. Effective communication skills – written, oral, visual, digital. Rapport building with students and staff. Team collaboration. Adaptability in fast-paced environment. Goal achievement focus. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Organization and meeting deadlines. Professional conduct and adherence to Ross Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics. Availability to accommodate project or accounting deadlines that may require evening hours. Performance metrics will be presented by supervisor and used to calculate future increases.
