Purpose of the Position The Supervisor Track Evaluator plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) rail network. This position oversees the safe operation of Geometry Inspection Vehicles, which are essential for monitoring track conditions and meeting annual testing requirements set by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and CPKC standards. If you’re self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and skilled at technical problem‑solving, this is your opportunity to enhance a vital component of rail network operations.
Position Accountabilities
Operate track geometry inspection vehicles and onboard equipment to support network‑wide testing and compliance
Validate and interpret track geometry defects data and communicate findings to the local Roadmaster or Director
Coordinate with local Roadmasters and other stakeholders to ensure the track evaluation schedule remains on track and testing goals are met
Perform regular maintenance and calibration of the inspection vehicle and onboard systems to ensure accuracy and reliability
Produce and distribute track geometry reports to guide maintenance efforts and assist in the prioritization of the track maintenance planning group
Monitor trends in recurring defects and generate follow‑up reports as needed
Conduct periodic quality control inspections of track evaluation output data to uphold testing standards
Maintain flexibility to respond to on‑call requests outside normal working hours
Position Requirements
High school or general equivalency
Valid driver’s license
Valid passport with the ability to travel to Canada without restrictions if required
2+ years of experience showcasing mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders
Ability to travel across the network regularly, including overnight stays
Availability to work extended days (8–12 hours) on a rotating schedule of 2 weeks on the road and 1 week at home

Pre‑Employment Requirements
Medical and drug testing: This is a safety‑sensitive position and a successful pre‑employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post‑hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
Background investigation: Criminal history check, education verification, professional references, driver’s license verification and driving history, passport verification, Department of Transportation Background Check 40.25 Form, Social Security Number verification.

Management Conductor Program Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC.
