The Role Evaluates, implements, and controls company’s radioactive waste management programs and procedures to protect against radiation hazards. Recommends and develops policies for inspection standards, decontamination procedures, emergency procedures, waste handling, and disposal services. Controls personnel radiation exposures, environmental releases, and surface‑type contaminants. Stays abreast of federal, state, local, and industry radiation protection regulations and ensures that radiation levels are in compliance with standards. May develop and direct radiation training and monitoring programs.

Management of Radioactive waste which includes the characterization of material and equipment used in radiological work, inspecting radioactive waste to prepare disposal documents, reviewing documents to ensure they adhere to local, state, and federal regulations such as the Resource Conversation and Recover Act (RCRA) and Toxic Substances and Control Act (TSCA). This position will also develop and provide training to project engineers on radioactive waste management requirements and provide oversight to trades training on radioactive waste.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.

One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree:

NNS Apprentice School graduate

Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate

Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non‑exempt experience

Military Paygrade E‑5 or above military experience

High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience

High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non‑exempt experience

Preferred Qualifications

Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science degree, Chemistry degree
