Mortgage Sales Manager - Producing Accountability Statement: The role of the Mortgage Sales Manager - Producing encompasses leadership, personal mortgage production, and team development. Responsible for guiding a team of 4-5 Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs), the manager drives mortgage volume to achieve VyStar's goals within a designated geographic area. This involves working closely with MLOs to bolster their calling programs, offering leadership through mentoring, sales modeling, coaching, counseling, training, and support. Active in business development, the manager fosters a positive sales environment, ensuring quality mortgage loan origination in line with VyStar's policies.

Essential Responsibilities

Effectively manage MLOs to maximize mortgage and home equity volume, production, and business development efforts.

Implement a consistent training plan for MLOs to properly assess members' home loan needs, accurately perform pre‑qualification assessments, and analyze financial conditions and risks of financing requests within VyStar policy, procedures, and current economic and industry trends.

Ensure direct reports are adequately trained to conduct professional sales calls with all types of referral sources. Conduct business development calls with Mortgage Loan Originators at least monthly or as needed.

Set specific production goals with Mortgage Loan Originators and collaborate with them to develop action plans to achieve these goals. Counsel and mentor originators as needed to assist in reaching their objectives.

Mentor and develop employees to strive for optimal performance and help them reach their professional goals. Provide ongoing support through sales, prospecting, and technical training.

Evaluate, recommend, and hire potential Mortgage Loan Originators in conjunction with the Vice President of Mortgage Originations.

Assess the performance of all direct Supervisors and Mortgage Loan Originators. Review scorecards/action plans for established goals on a monthly basis.

Resolve member issues promptly or escalated to ensure proper resolution.

Ensure all mortgage loan originators can evaluate creditworthiness and prepare files for underwriting that accurately represent borrowers' qualifications for a mortgage loan amount with the desired collateral.

Maintain or exceed defined goals.

Prepare and submit annual budget projections for the Mortgage Originations area to the Vice President of Mortgage Originations and/or SVP, Real Estate Lending.

Review monthly production reports with the Vice President of Mortgage Originations to ensure accurate loan status reporting.

Generate enthusiasm for all VyStar products and services. Establish collaborative partnerships with other lines of business, including Retail, Consumer, Business, Investments, Wealth, and Commercial.

Work directly with branches, call centers, or members to resolve issues. Demonstrate strong teamwork, professionalism, and initiative.

Encourage positive interactions and strong working relationships with Operations, Risk Management, Servicing, and Secondary & Capital Markets Partners within Real Estate Lending.

Understand mortgage department goals and Credit Union goals, proactively working toward their attainment.

Identify and recommend process improvements, quality service enhancements, and increased efficiencies within the department to Mortgage Originations Management.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications Education

High School diploma or GED required.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Continuing education via local conferences and workshops and membership in affiliated mortgage banking associations should be established as time and resources allow.

Certifications

Registered mortgage loan originator employed by a federally regulated institution with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).

Compliance with all provisions of the Secure and Fair Enforcement of Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (S.A.F.E. Act) and credit union S.A.F.E. Act procedures.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years prior experience in the mortgage industry, preferably as a mortgage loan originator or mortgage loan interviewer in a direct member contact capacity with a financial or mortgage lending institution.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven production and track record in heavy customer contact.

Self‑disciplined, goal‑oriented worker with a demonstrated ability to work independently and coach and develop others to achieve their goals.

Superior communication skills.

Proficiency with mortgage payment calculator, PC, and copy machine.

Familiarity with conventional, VA, FHA, and equity loan financing and all regulations governing mortgage lending.

Well‑versed in private mortgage insurance and secondary market lending guidelines.

Excellent leadership and communication skills for developing the team.

Track record working effectively with members, realtors, builders and potential clients to ensure smooth workflow and efficient service while staying abreast of changing policies and procedures.
