UC Health is hiring a part-time Lab Technician for the phlebotomy department for first shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required and formal phlebotomy training program / externship.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Knowledge of specimen requirements; familiarity with laboratory terminology, turnaround times, and the ability to read and comprehend written information.
- Keyboarding skills and ability to perform in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to provide effective customer service in accordance with hospital RITE values.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, skin puncture, or other special collection technique.
- Follow proper patient identification protocols and established blood collection protocols.
- Access specimens into Laboratory Information System (LIS) ensuring demographic information is accurate and complete.
- Prioritize workload to ensure specimen collection and transport to the laboratory is completed in a timely manner.
- Clean and stock phlebotomy cart/tray and workstation at end of shift.
- Deliver specimens to the various testing departments and ensure all specimens are accounted for at the end of shift.
- Communicate the status of uncompleted collections and monitor Mobile Care Phlebotomy System.
- Provide excellent customer service and answer phone inquiries demonstrating RITE values.
- Perform safety and quality checks: centrifugation, aliquoting, stabilizing for transport, measuring volume, and assessing adequacy of specimens for testing.
- Train associates/students in phlebotomy/processing tasks and complete all mandatory competencies and training modules.
- Participate in staffing meetings and follow all department and hospital policies and procedures.
