Job Purpose

The Academic Program Director is responsible to the Division Dean for the development and management of the Cybersecurity credit and non‑credit programs. The Director provides oversight for the Cybersecurity Center and partners with internal and external partners to promote cybersecurity initiatives. The role also includes supervision of adjunct faculty, promotion and operation of all programmatic credit classes, departmental marketing, evaluation of activities, teaching, instructional development, student advisement, professional development, college and community service, and instructional management.

Job Responsibilities

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

  • Foster and promote all educational programs and activities offered through the department.
  • Recommend and monitor department course schedule.
  • Responsible for procurement, inventory, and distribution of all departmental instructional materials.
  • Make recommendations concerning appointment, evaluation, and utilization of adjunct instructors in the assigned department.
  • Maintain effective use of all physical facilities and supplies in the assigned department.
  • Prepare all departmental reports and budgets in cooperation with staff as input into the assessment/planning/evaluating/reporting system.
  • Administer faculty, staff, and student regulations within the department.
  • Ensure communication of and adherence to policies, procedures, and campus information with all departmental faculty, staff and students.
  • Recommend Advisory Committee members and agenda items and serve as a committee catalyst for all community advisory committees for the assigned department.
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned by the Divisional Dean.

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Participate in divisional strategic planning process for development, refinement, and enhancement of curriculum with attention to facility, technology, and instructional resources and needs.
  • Assist in the evaluation of existing educational programs/courses and deliver reporting on program status and efficiency.
  • Assist with the development and refinement of the Human Services curriculum.

TEACHING PERFORMANCE

  • Teach courses as assigned and in accordance with the established criteria.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.

STUDENT ADVISEMENT

  • Work with the Student Services Division in the selection, recruitment, admission and retention of students and cooperate with this division to utilize appropriate services.
  • Advise and maintain student records in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Monitor academic advisement policies, procedures, and practices for all divisional programs.
  • Ensure that students in divisional programs receive appropriate academic advisement from their respective advisors.
  • Cooperate with the Student Services Division in the placement and follow‑up of students.
  • Maintain office hours as required and needed by students, faculty, and advisees.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Represent the Division and College by participating in community and professional meetings.
  • Attend relevant professional meetings.
  • Maintain a current awareness of educational innovations and trends appropriate to divisional concerns.

COLLEGE/COMMUNITY SERVICE

  • Serve actively on College committees.
  • Work cooperatively with other College divisions to meet the educational needs of students.
  • Maintain contacts with appropriate business, industries, agencies and community organizations/individuals in the College service area.
  • Maintain contacts with appropriate representatives from secondary and post‑secondary institutions and serve as a catalyst for appropriate educational offerings.
  • Implement market‑driven activities within the division targeted at the appropriate programs and consumer and community needs.
  • Actively pursue the addition of appropriate articulation agreements with post‑secondary institutions for students to further their educational programs and goals.

May perform other duties as assigned by Division Dean.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Master’s degree in an area appropriate to the instructional division with demonstrated skills in teaching, curriculum development, and/or educational management in higher education.
