Base pay range

$36,232.00/yr - $44,828.00/yr

Duties Description

The Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) provides high‑quality, person‑centered services, supports and advocacy to individuals with developmental disabilities in New York State. OPWDD's Office of Investigations and Internal Affairs Division (OIIA) is seeking a person to work as an Office Assistant in a local field office. The Office Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative support in an office setting and establishing and implementing procedures to maintain an efficient workflow. The Office Assistant will also serve as the liaison between OPWDD and other OIIA regional offices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist OIIA management in the implementation and data collection related to the upgrade of fleet of vehicles within the assigned region with 4G cameras and GPS systems.
  • Assist with transcribing, making interrogation appointments, helping with intake, and ordering supplies.
  • Respond to questions or refer complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Collect and store critical milestone data to track reform progress and regulatory compliance.
  • Schedule and set up meetings and conferences.
  • Assist investigators with the region assigned.
  • Make travel arrangements and process travel expenses.
  • Serve as liaison between OPWDD OIIA regions.
  • Fulfill other support duties, as assigned.
  • Telecommuting to be discussed at interview.

Open Competitive

Candidates must be reachable for appointment on Current Civil Service Eligible List for this title.

Transfer

Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive, non‑competitive or 55‑b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.

55 B/C Qualifications

  • Possess the minimum qualifications for this title as established by the Department of Civil Service and listed on the most recent exam announcement.
  • Meet the applicable minimal mental and/or physical requirements for the job (with a reasonable accommodation, if necessary).
  • Have a current Eligibility Letter from the NYS Department of Civil Service and be able to provide it to the Human Resources Office upon request.
