Job Title: Thermal Hydraulics Engineer

Type: Long-term Contract

We are seeking a Thermal Hydraulics Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity, based in Bellevue, WA. This opportunity supports analysis and design initiatives for thermal-fluid and energy systems. You will report directly to the Manager of System Thermal Hydraulics Methods & Analysis, playing a pivotal role in advancing innovative energy systems.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive analyses and design activities for structures, systems, and components specific to thermal hydraulic applications.

Utilize advanced multi-dimensional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to perform both computational thermal-fluid and thermal-structural analyses.

Execute steady-state and transient hydraulic network analyses to ensure optimal performance of energy systems.

Document findings and present results to both internal teams and external stakeholders, facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Champion continuous learning and promote the adoption of industry best practices, striving for engineering excellence and proactively identifying opportunities for process enhancements.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address thermal and mechanical design considerations for components, contributing to system efficiency and safety.

Key Qualifications and Skills

A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics.

A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred, with at least 3 years of practical experience in CFD.

Proven track record of utilizing the Siemens CFD package STAR-CCM+ for a minimum of 3 years.

Familiarity with a range of CFD best practices, modeling techniques, and meshing strategies tailored to achieve an ideal balance between accuracy and computational efficiency.

Experience modeling dynamic thermal fluid systems and working knowledge of CAD modeling tools, with SolidWorks preferred.

Background in nuclear systems applications of CFD and analysis of high-temperature thermal-fluid systems is an advantage.

Comfortable working with low Prandtl number fluid heat transfer concepts and methodologies.

Experience with CFD verification and validation processes, along with a strong understanding of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) and Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) standards, is highly desired.

A creative thinker with robust analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Exceptional communication skills and the capacity to collaborate within diverse teams.
