HavocAI
About Us:
Collaborative autonomy is how self-tasking teams of machines will solve hard human problems, and HavocAI is an unquestioned leader in collaborative autonomy. We set the standard for autonomous surface vessels for a wide range of defense and commercial maritime missions. Success requires us to grow quickly, and we’re looking for teammates who are passionate about solving hard problems, about pushing the envelope, and about preventing conflict and saving lives. Ambition is welcome to apply within.
About the Role: We are seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. This role bridges both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines, with responsibilities spanning new system development, payload integration, and subsystem design. The ideal candidate is comfortable designing in CAD, producing basic electrical diagrams, and collaborating across disciplines to ensure seamless integration of hardware and electronics in uncrewed surface vessels.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements:
System Development: Contribute to the design and integration of new systems and payloads, spanning mechanical structures, electrical harnessing, and system packaging.
Mechanical Design: Create CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks for basic mechanical structures, enclosures, and system mounts.
Electrical Design: Generate basic electrical diagrams and schematics for wiring harnesses, connectors, and subsystem interfaces. Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure safe, reliable integration.
Integration & Testing: Participate in hardware builds, subsystem and bench testing, vehicle integration, and troubleshooting activities to validate designs and ensure performance in the field.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to specify, design, build, test and integrate electromechanical assemblies (actuators, motors, power distribution devices, etc.) into vehicles.
Documentation: Produce and maintain accurate documentation including CAD drawings, electrical diagrams, test results, and configuration management records.
Support Manufacturing: Partner with technicians and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and suited to marine operating environments.
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in electro-mechanical system design and integration.
Proficiency in SolidWorks for mechanical CAD modeling and drafting.
Ability to create and interpret basic electrical designs, diagrams, and wiring schematics.
Hands-on experience with prototyping, assembly, and troubleshooting electromechanical systems.
Strong understanding of materials, mechanical properties, and electrical components.
Experience working in cross-functional teams and integrating subsystems into complete platforms.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with payload integration for uncrewed vehicle systems, namely maritime or aerospace.
Familiarity with wiring harness design tools or PLM/ECAD systems.
Knowledge of embedded systems packaging and thermal/electrical considerations.
Exposure to design for manufacturability (DFM) and marine or ruggedized systems.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
