The faculty of the Department of History at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9‑month, full‑time, tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in West African History to begin August 16, 2026. Required Education and Experience The position requires a PhD at the time of appointment and a strong research and teaching agenda. The successful candidate should present evidence of a strong scholarly record and will be expected to teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses and graduate level courses in their areas of interest. The field of research is open but should complement department strengths. Preferred Qualifications PhD in History or related field and a strong research and teaching agenda.
