The Position
The Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for supporting the overall daily golf operation and ensuring an exceptional experience for members and their guests. This role works closely with the Head Golf Professional to oversee all aspects of the golf program, including merchandising, outside services, cart and practice facility operations, tournaments, and player development. Key responsibilities include managing events from planning to post‑tournament billing, assisting with instruction and club fittings, and maintaining a professional and visible presence as an ambassador for the Club. The Assistant Golf Professional is expected to deliver high‑quality service, foster strong relationships with members, and collaborate with other departments to promote a culture of hospitality and excellence.
The Potential Candidate The ideal candidate will be a PGA Class “A” professional in good standing with at least three years of experience at a private or premier public club. They should bring advanced organizational and communication skills, a solid background in golf operations, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, POS systems, and Golf Genius. A bachelor's degree is preferred, along with proven success in providing exceptional member service, merchandising, instruction, and tournament operations. The successful candidate will be a professional, approachable leader who enjoys engaging with members both on and off the course, and who thrives in a collaborative team environment while maintaining the highest standards of service and hospitality.

The History Founded in 1896 as Illinois' third golf club, Exmoor is a private, full‑service country club, located in Highland Park, Illinois, 28 miles north of Chicago. With a championship golf course designed by Donald J. Ross, Exmoor continues to fulfill its original mission as a family club devoted to the game of golf, while offering a growing range of sports and social opportunities. Sports at Exmoor include golf, curling, tennis, swimming, ice skating, platform tennis, cross‑country skiing, and the fastest‑growing sport in America, pickleball. Members of all ages enjoy a year‑round schedule of exciting social activities.

Essential Responsibilities AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Responsible for managing the daily golf operation supervising and managing all aspects of the golf operation with the support of the Head Golf Professional.
Assist with the merchandising plan for the Club including ordering, merchandise displays, special orders, sales, customer, and vendor relations.
Provide exceptional customer service to members and their guests.
Work with the Outside Service Team to ensure the highest quality of customer service is achieved.
Assist and maintain golf cart operation, practice facilities, and club storage.
Assist in tournament operations and weekly events including planning, pre‑tournament meetings, post‑tournament billing, promotion, course set‑up, preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow‑up.
Assist in Player Development programs.
Provide instruction and club fitting services to members.
Play golf with a variety of members in competitive and non‑competitive situations.
Assist in coordinating golf activities with other departments.
Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.
Maintain a visible presence as an ambassador for the Club and golf operation. Create opportunities to be involved with membership including playing golf regularly.
Deliver a member and guest experience with a primary focus on service and hospitality.
Cultivate and maintain an effective working relationship with the entire Golf Operation team and Club Management.
