$70.00/hr - $80.00/hr Lead Front End Developer (Typescript (React/Vue), Node, Hybrid, Contract to hire)
Optomi in partnership with a leader in its industry is seeking a highly motivated Lead UI/Frontend Engineer to help meet our growing enterprise needs. This role will be hybrid 4x a week in Plano, Texas. You will start 3-6 months on contract before converting into a full time employee. Job Description
The main responsibility of the Lead UI engineer is to design, build, and implement scalable, high-quality UI solutions that bring our platforms to life and ensure they are well managed. The lead engineer will work closely with product owners to understand business requirements, collaborate with architecture teams to align on architectural direction, and partner with platform leads to design innovative frontend solutions. Proficiency in modern UI frameworks (React, Vue, Next.js, Nuxt.js) using TypeScript as the primary language is essential. Candidates with a proven track record of building reusable UI frameworks and applications that meet enterprise non-functional requirements and operational excellence will be highly regarded. What youll be doing Lead a portfolio of UI technology projects and a team of frontend developers to create solutions that meet platform needs across the company. Lead the design and development of reusable UI frameworks, component libraries, templates, and building blocks that support common enterprise non-functional requirements and specific use cases for front-end application teams. Collaborate closely with product owners, UX/UI designers, backend engineers, and platform leads to deliver scalable, maintainable, and performant frontend solutions. Drive architecture and design decisions using Architecture Decision Record (ADR) processes, ensuring alignment and approval across stakeholders. Build foundational UI capabilities that enable data teams and application teams to efficiently develop, deploy, and maintain rich user experiences. Continuously improve frontend frameworks and processes to accelerate delivery and maintain high quality across diverse teams. Mentor and guide engineers on best practices in TypeScript, UI frameworks, frontend architecture, and production deployment. Partner with leadership to attract, hire, and retain top frontend engineering talent. Share your passion for staying on top of UI/UX trends, experimenting with new technologies, and participating in internal and external technology communities. Understand, contribute to, and implement enterprise architecture standards for frontend development.
Implement advanced frontend engineering best practices including:
Performance tuning and optimization. Advanced testing strategies. SEO optimization. Observability and monitoring. Canary releases and feature flagging. Analytics instrumentation and user behavior tracking.
What you bring
Advanced experience (8+ years) in frontend development with strong expertise in TypeScript, NodeJS and modern UI frameworks such as React, Vue, Next.js, or Nuxt.js. Proven track record of designing and delivering reusable UI frameworks, component libraries, and scalable frontend applications in enterprise environments. Experience with advanced testing methodologies including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Testing Library). Strong knowledge of frontend build tools, bundlers (npm, gulp, Webpack, Vite), and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with deployment strategies such as canary releases and feature flagging. Solid understanding of enterprise non-functional requirements: security, scalability, maintainability, and observability. Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies. Strong communication skills and ability to lead and mentor frontend engineers. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Deep understanding of frontend software architecture, including:
Micro-frontend architectures and federated modules. 12?factor, Clean Code and SOLID principles. Performance Optimization: Lazy loading, code splitting, memoization, and minimizing re?renders. Ensure UI components meet accessibility standards (WCAG). Implement server?side rendering or static site generation for SEO benefits. Instrument frontend apps with logging, error tracking, and analytics.
Bonus if you have
Experience with backend integration patterns, GraphQL, REST APIs, and real?time data streaming. Contributions to open source frontend projects or UI libraries. Experience with infrastructure as code and containerization related to frontend deployment. Exposure to design systems and UX research collaboration. Exposure in building self?service tools and frameworks to empower platform teams and reduce operational overhead
