Job Description:

The Civil Enforcement Division of the Oregon Department of Justice seeks a motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced attorney with a strong interest in antitrust and false claims enforcement to join our Economic Justice Section. The role focuses on antitrust and false claims enforcement, including investigation, prosecution, and settlement of complex matters. The attorney may lead multistate efforts, collaborate with federal enforcers, and assist on other Section matters as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities • Focus on antitrust and false claims enforcement actions. • Identify, investigate, and prosecute complex matters related to antitrust or false claims. • Issue investigative demands, conduct sworn witness interviews, and collaborate with consulting experts and analysts. • Seek injunctive relief, civil penalties, or consumer restitution through negotiations or litigation. • Participate in or lead multistate antitrust enforcement efforts and collaborate with federal antitrust enforcers. • Assist on other Section matters as required.

Office Location/Remote Work This position is Portland‑based with hybrid remote work opportunities.

Required Qualifications

Be admitted to the Oregon bar or eligible to waive into the Oregon Bar and in good standing at the time of application.

Minimum of two (2) years of litigation or enforcement experience, with preference for more than five (5) years.

Experience taking or defending depositions in state or federal court actions or conducting investigative interviews.

Willingness and ability to litigate complex civil cases.

Willingness and ability to travel periodically.

Ability to clear all actual or potential ethical conflicts to represent the state.

Strong work ethic and commitment to public service.

Desired Experience

Strong background in state or federal antitrust laws.

Experience with false claims investigations or prosecutions.

Experience leading investigations and working with opposing counsel.

Superior writing and oral advocacy skills, excellent analytical skills, sound judgment, and creative problem solving.

Experience negotiating settlements and resolving disputes.

Interest in technology and ability to learn new technologies.

Effective and responsive communication skills.

Goal‑oriented self‑starter comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
