Position Summary
Staff, Software Engineer – Backend Java Associate Well Being – Global Technology EBS team at Walmart. This role supports millions of customers and associates worldwide, delivering scalable, secure, and efficient software solutions that drive Walmart’s modernization efforts in People Technology and Well Being.
What You’ll Do Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable software solutions within People Tech – Well Being. Analyze requirements, architect technical solutions, and ensure code quality, security, and performance through collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Support continuous integration and deployment, manage defects, and contribute to best‑practice adoption across the organization.
What You’ll Bring
Proven expertise in requirement and scoping analysis, including risk and cost analysis aligned with business objectives.
Strong knowledge of software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and design patterns.
Proficiency in coding languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C, and experience with relevant frameworks and platforms.
Experience in driving secure, scalable, and maintainable code development adhering to coding standards.
Ability to design detailed solutions from high‑level designs and contribute to agile methodologies.
Familiarity with testing strategies, automation tools, and defect management processes.
Competence in monitoring program metrics, CI/CD processes, and troubleshooting application performance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
