What You’ll Be Doing
Design and execute data migration strategies for core database systems, primarily Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB.
Implement and manage Change Data Capture (CDC) and logical replication setups to achieve near‑zero downtime cutovers.
Work with customer data teams to ensure pre‑migration schema and data validation, and post‑migration performance tuning.
Develop automated scripts and tools (in partnership with the Platform Engineering team) to simplify common migration tasks like snapshot creation and failover testing.
Provide expert guidance on database security, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) configurations within the DigitalOcean cloud environment.
What We’ll Expect From You
6+ years of hands‑on experience as a DBA, Database Engineer, or Data Migration Specialist.
Deep production experience with at least two of the following: Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB.
Expertise in replication technologies and techniques for minimizing data drift and ensuring data fidelity across platforms.
Familiarity with cloud‑native managed database services and common migration tools.
Strong scripting skills (Python or Bash) for automation, monitoring, and validation tasks.
Exceptional attention to detail and a customer‑first mindset regarding data security and integrity.
Compensation Range
$154,000 – $192,500
