About Youth Opportunity & New Hope Youth Center Youth Opportunity is a nationally recognized leader in residential and behavioral health treatment for at-risk youth. New Hope Youth Center in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan provides trauma‑informed residential care for girls ages 10 to 17 who have experienced abuse or neglect. The center combines clinical therapy, life skills training, education, expressive arts, and social support in a nurturing environment.
Youth typically stay between 6 to 9 months, participating in individual, family, and group therapy; victim‑impact awareness; restorative justice programming; and pre‑vocational preparation. Programming is provided within small group living units to support healing, family involvement, and readiness for community reintegration.
About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Business / HR Manager to support the operations and staff at New Hope Youth Center. The Business / HR Manager will oversee a range of administrative, financial, and human resources responsibilities, including payroll, benefits, compliance, recruitment, reporting, and vendor relations. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who is both detail‑oriented and people‑focused.

Key Responsibilities Business Office Duties
Provide support services to the Facility Administrator regarding all business and HR documentation functions.
Direct and monitor accounting work, including account setup, voucher preparation, financial statements, and reporting.
Prepare financial reports for Regional and Executive Management and the Youth Opportunity Corporate Office.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and operational expenditures.
Assist in preparing and maintaining annual budgets and proposals.
Control spending within assigned budget areas and maintain administrative files.
Human Resource Duties
Review, track, and document compliance with training, continuing education, and assessments.
Recruit, interview, and facilitate hiring of qualified job applicants in collaboration with departmental managers.
Conduct background checks, employee eligibility verifications, and new hire orientation.
Administer HR programs including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, and performance management.
Handle employment‑related inquiries and maintain compliance with employment laws and best practices.
Maintain knowledge of HR trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
Develop and maintain office procedures and communication with the Corporate Office.
Additional Duties
Maintain a high standard of role model behavior for youth.
Participate in training and development activities as required.
Report incidents or conditions that may indicate inappropriate conduct or safety concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
At least two years of experience in business administration or human resources preferred.
Skills:
Strong computer proficiency, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Other:
Must maintain a valid state driver’s license and meet state criminal background check requirements.
Physical Demands
Must be in good physical health and emotionally stable.
Able to actively engage with youth, participate in physical interventions, and transport youth or staff as needed.
Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state.
Must pass evaluation of physical techniques and certification exams.
