The

Senior Director, Software Engineering & AI

is a visionary and strategic leader that will lead Entegris wide AI strategy and execution while developing a strong software engineering arm at Entegris. This role will be responsible for driving innovation, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage through the strategic application of AI technologies across our businesses and functions with initial focus in R&D and Engineering domains. Preferred location for the role is US (Billerica, MA, Aurora, IL or Chaska, MN). Pune, India will also be considered for the right candidate. This role will report to VP, Strategic platforms, Data & AI.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy & Leadership:

Define and lead multi-year Entegris AI vision & strategy aligned with business goals. Build and manage a high‑performing AI team including software engineers, data scientists, ML engineers, and AI product managers. Promote AI literacy & evangelize AI adoption across business units and executive leadership.

Innovation & Execution:

Be a thought leader & bring outside‑in perspective, stay abreast of emerging AI technologies and assess their relevance to Entegris, nurture innovation culture among teams. Identify and prioritize high‑impact AI use cases. Oversee a portfolio of AI/ML projects including development and deployment of AI models, ensuring scalability, reliability, and ethical compliance. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate AI into existing platforms and workflows.

Technology & Architecture:

Guide the selection and implementation of AI platforms, tools, architecture and infrastructure. Ensure robust data governance, model lifecycle management, and MLOps practices.

Team & Project Management:

Build and mentor high‑performing teams across AI and software disciplines. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery. Promote a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, data and AI literacy. Engage strategic vendors as necessary.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Partner with business & other IT leaders to propose AI solutions to address operational challenges. Foster external partnerships with academia, startups, and technology vendors. Collaborate with Data, Human Center Design, Security, and Infrastructure teams to build robust, scalable, and secure AI solutions.

Familiarity with regulatory and ethical considerations in industrial AI applications.

Experience working in an Agile environment with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

Background in managing annual operating plans and budgets.

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.

10+ years of experience in AI/ML, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

Proven track record of delivering enterprise‑level AI and automation solutions at scale, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Deep understanding of business functions and industrial processes.

Proficiency in languages like Python and experience with low‑code and pro‑code software development.

Strong knowledge of AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), hybrid AI, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP‑preferred), data engineering, and data architecture concepts.

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Great track record of building high‑performing teams.

What We Offer:

Compensation: $182,000.00–$260,000.00 a year (actual pay depends on candidate skill level).
