Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeon - Academic Rank Depends on Qualifications
We are seeking a full‑time Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to provide educational and technical expertise in the instruction of dental students, residents, and fellows, and in the care of patients in the UNMC College of Dentistry Clinics and the UNMC Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics. While the primary responsibility will be with the UNMC College of Dentistry, a joint position with the Oral and Maxillofacial Division in the Department of Surgery at the UNMC College of Medicine is possible.
Responsibilities
Provide didactic, preclinical and clinical education to dental students, dental hygiene students, residents and fellows.
Conduct research and participate in service to the University community and beyond.
Assist in advising clinical competency metrics for oral/maxillofacial surgery, didactic instruction and course directorship in the oral and maxillofacial surgical curriculum, and clinical supervision of oral and maxillofacial treatment, including prevention and treatment of medical emergencies and oversight of sedation.
Supervise the code blue team, including the integration of all emergency devices, drugs, and practice drills.
Screening of applications will begin immediately with an expected hire date on or before January 1, 2026.
Required Qualifications Qualified candidates must have a DDS or DMD degree or an equivalent degree from an international program, completion of an ADA‑accredited clinical specialty program, and successful completion of Part I and II of the National Board Dental Examination. Candidates must be Board certified or Board‑eligible by the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and eligible for a Nebraska dental license and a moderate sedation permit. Opportunities for participation in private or faculty practice are available.
