The Aquatics Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of the Club’s pool facilities during the summer season. This role oversees all lifeguard staff, ensures the safety and satisfaction of members and guests, and maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, programming, and service at the pool. The Aquatics Director will work collaboratively with other department directors to support children’s programming and special events. Key Responsibilities
Staff Leadership & Management Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of 12–15 lifeguards. Create weekly staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all operating hours. Conduct ongoing staff development and performance evaluations. Facility Operations & Maintenance Oversee daily operations of the pool and locker rooms, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming environment. Open and close pool facilities each season, including set-up, inspections, and end-of-season shutdown. Monitor and maintain proper water chemistry and pool equipment, including chemical treatments, filtration systems, and safety inspections. Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations. Programming & Events Organize and oversee swim lessons, swim team practices, and competitive swim meets. Coordinate with local country clubs to schedule and host swim meets. Work with members to plan and execute special pool events, including private parties and birthdays. Collaborate with Racquets and Golf Directors to align aquatics programming with children’s camps, clinics, and club-wide events. Member & Guest Experience Serve as the primary point of contact for pool-related inquiries, concerns, and requests. Promote a safe, family-friendly, and engaging pool environment. Ensure that member expectations for service and quality are consistently met or exceeded. Requirements
Qualifications
Previous experience in aquatics management, recreation, or related field required. Knowledge of pool operations, including chemical treatments and facility maintenance. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications required (WSI or CPO certification preferred). Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed during the summer season. Seniority level
