Our client, a large Washington, DC, mission-based international education, lobbying, and public affairs non-profit organization, has an immediate need for a senior Grants and Endowment accountant. To be considered for this temp-to-permanent position, the candidate will be responsible for and have the following qualifications and skills:
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Financial Reporting Controller / Foundation Entity Controller andyou will work with key Development personnel to understand the financial requirements and guidelines of each grant as dictated by the grant agreement.
You will alsodetermine the proper accounting treatment and categorization for each endowment and grant, in accordance with GAAP.

Knowledge of FASB ASC 606, ASU 2016-14 and ASU 2018-08 required. Prepare financial reporting to comply with grantor requirements. Manage calendar to track financial grant requirements and deliverables in collaboration with various individuals Prepare and maintain the Institutional Five-Year Grant Forecast Model of Revenues and Expenses, to be utilized by Development as a solicitation tool, and by Finance as the basis for an Institutional Five-Year Financial Statement (Balance Sheet, Statement of Activities, and Statement of Cash Flows) Forecast Model. Assist the Lead Financial Planning Analyst in developing the annual organizational budget, as it relates to grant revenue and expenses. Analyze endowment agreements, in consultation with Development, to ensure adherence to the Gift Acceptance Policy. Be responsible for net asset analysis, and additionally, endowment distribution calculations, in accordance with the institution’s Endowment Spending Policy. Assist in monitoring and ensuring proper internal controls are in place. Facilitate training of employees in financial policies, procedures, processes and best practices. Qualifications & Skills: BS degreein Accounting or equivalent work experience Minimum 5to 7years of professional accounting experience Strong understanding of accounting theory Ability to act independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives Ability to meet assigned deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint required Microsoft Dynamics, Adaptive Insights, Salesforce, Anybill, and Concur software experience highly preferred Please forward your current resume and salary requirements for consideration.
