Position Overview
As Project Engineer, you will work closely with the Director of Engineering and Construction to develop and execute distributed generation solar projects.
The ideal candidate has 5 years of experience in the solar industry, strong proficiency in AutoCAD, PVCase, and PVsyst, and expertise in project management and EPC contractor management. This full‑time position is based in either our New York, New York or West Hartford, Connecticut offices, and travel to project sites is required as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Lodestar project development team to ensure projects are created in alignment with objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.
Utilize AutoCAD, PVCase, and PVsyst to develop conceptual layouts and optimize solar energy system designs for maximum performance and efficiency.
Work with external engineering firms to produce design packages in support of project permitting and construction needs.
Manage relationships with EPC contractors, overseeing project deliverables, scheduling, and quality assurance to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.
Review and approve project submittals, including engineering drawings and technical documentation, to verify accuracy, completeness, and perform value engineering where possible.
Specify equipment for long‑lead procurement, coordinating with suppliers and vendors to secure necessary components and materials for project execution.
Conduct construction cost estimations, analyzing project requirements to develop accurate and competitive project budgets.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil).
Previous experience in solar PV, BESS, or the utility power generation spaces is desired.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVCase, and PVsyst.
Strong project management skills, with experience in EPC contractor management and construction methodologies.
Ability to develop conceptual layouts for development sites and specify equipment for procurement.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment and Schedule The position is full‑time, in‑person (4 days per week) and based in our New York City or West Hartford office.
Remuneration Market rate, contingent on experience. Base salary, benefits and significant bonus opportunity.
