Research Scientist / Postdoctoral Scholar / Graduate Student / Staff Positions
Multiple research scientist, postdoctoral scholar, graduate student, and staff positions are available at the UCI Center for Neural Circuit Mapping (CNCM) and in the laboratory of Dr. Xiangmin Xu at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine.
Overview The UCI Center for Neural Circuit Mapping (CNCM) focuses on neural circuit studies and development of viral‑genetic, multi‑omics technologies. It leads research, education, and training initiatives, including an NIH‑supported T32 Training Program in Alzheimer’s Disease Research. The Xu Lab specializes in neural circuits related to sensory perception, learning, memory, aging, and Alzheimer’s disease, using single‑cell and spatial genomics, electrophysiology, optical imaging, and behavioral measurements.
(1) Research Scientist / Postdoctoral Scholar Requirements The candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and strong experimental or analytic training in molecular, cellular, or systems neuroscience. Candidates with skills in neuroanatomical tracing, electrophysiology, in‑vivo functional imaging, or bioinformatics are encouraged to apply.
More details: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF09016; https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF09018
(2) Predoctoral and postdoctoral T32 training positions These positions require U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and enrollment in a Ph.D., MD/Ph.D., or postdoctoral program in neuroscience or a related biomedical field.
Current T32 opportunities: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF09018
(3) Electrophysiology Specialist Requirements The candidate should have a BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Biology or a related field, capable of independently or under supervision designing and executing electrophysiology experiments, including whole‑cell patch‑clamp and local field potential recordings.
More information: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF09369
(4) Virus Production Specialist The candidate should have a BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Biology or a related field, with experience in cell culture, virus propagation, and molecular/cell biology.
