Deputy City Marshal I – City of Fort Worth
Pay: $22.90–$28.62/hr
Sign-On Incentive: $2,000 – 50% paid on completion of first pay period, 50% paid after 6 months of employment.

Job Overview A Deputy City Marshal I is a law enforcement officer commissioned by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). The primary responsibilities include bringing wanted parties before the court, providing bailiffs to the court, and patrolling Lake Worth. The Marshals Division is organized into four sections:
Building Security
– maintaining physical security of the Fort Worth City Hall, the Public Safety Building, and other facilities and parking areas; Deputy Marshals also serve as bailiffs.
Warrant Section
– bringing wanted parties before the court, working with the Fort Worth Police Department to arrest wanted parties, enforce traffic laws, and respond to radio calls for service.
Lake Patrol
– enforcing maritime laws at Lake Worth, assisting the Fort Worth Police Department, ensuring safe environment on the lake and surrounding parks, and conducting search and rescue efforts.
Bike Patrol
– patrolling the downtown city campus, working with the Fort Worth Police Department to maintain peace in downtown Fort Worth.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED
Valid driver’s license
Valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Peace Officer’s License at time of hire
Must pass physical, swim and rowing test
Preferred Qualifications
Intermediate Texas Peace Officer’s license or higher
Completed minimum TCOLE training hours for the training cycle and continued education
Marine Safety Enforcement Officer Certification
Firearms proficiencies in pistol, shotgun, and rifle platforms
Completed procedural justice training
Bilingual skillset
Job Responsibilities
Operate security screening checkpoints; search and inspect persons and their property entering secure facilities for prohibited weapons, explosives, and other contraband.
Serve as court bailiff in assigned courts and perform related duties; ensure safety and security of the courtroom, jury, and trial participants.
Respond to emergencies and incidents in the Municipal Courts, City Hall Complex, and around Lake Worth.
Transport prisoners to and from surrounding jurisdictions; ensure proper restraint of prisoners during transportation.
Conduct traffic stops and investigations, enforce traffic laws and water or boating laws; issue citations as required.
Detain, question, and investigate persons suspected of violating court orders.
Serve warrants and arrest persons named there; testify in court when required.
Complete and maintain accurate reports, inventories, and documents.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands Positions may require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, swimming, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Medium work may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up 20 pounds constantly.
Applicants must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Disqualifying conditions include felony convictions, class A/B misdemeanors in last 10 years, and other specified offenses.
