Position Overview The
HVAC BIM Manager
will oversee all Building Information Modeling (BIM) activities related to HVAC and piping systems and ensure sub‑contractor compliance with project specifications and contract deliverables. This individual will manage internal and external BIM teams, be responsible for subcontractor project integration, contract compliance, quality assurance of deliverables, and scheduling. The BIM Manager will be the point of contact between the BIM team and the project manager, ensuring seamless coordination between field and model.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all HVAC BIM activities for multiple construction projects.
Oversee the development, quality, and accuracy of HVAC models, drawings, and deliverables.
Provide quality control to ensure model integration and clash‑free coordination.
Manage BIM subcontractors, including scope definition, schedule adherence, deliverable review, and performance evaluation.
Enforce company BIM standards and ensure alignment with client and project‑specific requirements.
Manage model coordination meetings and issue clash detection reports using Navisworks or similar tools.
Collaborate with field teams to support model‑based layout, fabrication, and installation processes.
Continuously improve BIM workflows and maintain best practices in HVAC modeling and coordination.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Not required if relevant experience is provided.
Minimum 10+ years of experience in BIM coordination and management within the HVAC or Piping discipline.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and HVAC systems, codes, and construction practices.
Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, and other BIM coordination tools.
Proficiency in online coordination platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360, or similar.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and schedule compliance.
Experience working in a general contracting environment with multiple subcontractors.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to lead coordination meetings and manage external teams.
Experience managing external BIM subcontractors and reviewing deliverables for quality and compliance.
Understanding of fabrication workflows, model‑based estimating, and field implementation.
