Production Coordinator – Contract (Hybrid) – University of California, Merced
Position: Contract
Salary: $25.00 per hour.
Job Summary The Production Coordinator assists with planning, coordination, and logistics for UC Merced Arts performing arts programs, including the annual concert series, Shakespeare in Yosemite, and UC Merced Children’s Opera. The Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director for the Arts and collaborates with campus partners, faculty, students, and external artists and venues.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Director in preparing production logistics for concerts and performances, including artist advance communications, venue requirements, and technical needs.
Support stage and front‑of‑house operations on performance days, coordinating with venue staff and student assistants.
Help coordinate rehearsal schedules, artist hospitality, and general performance‑day logistics.
Coordinate communications, scheduling, and park performances for the Shakespeare in Yosemite program.
Support education outreach activities for the UC Merced Children’s Opera under the direction of the Executive Director and Opera Director.
Assist with marketing, publicity, and communications for UC Merced Arts performing arts programs.
Maintain records, schedules, and basic budget tracking for assigned programs.
Support community and donor‑facing activities by assisting with logistics and communications as directed.
Coordinate and schedule student assistants, interns, and volunteers for production and front‑of‑house roles.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration, Music, Theater, Communications, Event Management, or equivalent experience/training.
Basic knowledge of event planning, production logistics, and public communications.
Organizational skills to coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interactions with artists, faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
Ability to learn and apply UC Merced procedures for event planning, safety, and compliance.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends in alignment with performance schedules.
Ability to work effectively with diverse groups, including students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Background Check Background check required.
