The Mission: Endpoint Security & Cloud Migration
The State of North Carolina is seeking a highly skilled Engineer-Level Consultant to spearhead the migration from Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) to Microsoft Intune and implement advanced security features outlined in the agency's 24-27 Intune roadmap.
This is a critical, high-impact role requiring deep expertise in Intune, MECM, and M365 security to support and secure devices across 14 managed agencies and several non-managed agencies. You will be the crucial link, working closely with Azure and Identity Management teams to drive this security modernization project.
Primary Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of endpoint management, focusing heavily on security migration and implementation:
Intune Migration & Implementation: Lead the migration of all existing policies and workloads from MECM/SCCM to Intune.
Security Feature Implementation: Implement all existing and new security features as described in the Intune roadmap, including Conditional Access, MFA, and endpoint protection.
Device & App Management: Manage and secure devices across multiple platforms (MDM support) and deploy/manage applications to ensure secure access to corporate resources for numerous state agencies.
M365 Integration: Work extensively with Azure AD, Hybrid-Azure Joined domains, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and other M365 services to provide unified management.
Automation: Develop PowerShell and Bash scripts for automating tasks, optimizing deployments, and improving security compliance and device configuration.
Support & Documentation: Troubleshoot and resolve complex incidents, provide major incident support, and maintain accurate documentation for configurations, policies, and procedures.
Required Technical Expertise
Intune Mastery: Extensive hands-on experience in Microsoft Intune administration and complex security configuration.
M365 Ecosystem: Strong, working experience with the core M365 suite, including Azure AD, Exchange, Teams, and SharePoint.
Security Best Practices: Expertise in modern security practices such as device encryption, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, and endpoint protection policies.
Hybrid Environments: Experience working with Hybrid-Azure Joined domains and understanding the interplay between On-Prem Active Directory and Azure AD.
Scripting: Proficiency in PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and configuration.
Enterprise Tool Knowledge: Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, MECM/SCCM, and M365 licensing models.
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft 365 Certified (e.g., Endpoint Administrator, Azure Fundamentals).
Familiarity with the Power Platform, Graph API, and other specialized M365 tools.
Prior experience working in highly collaborative, internal teams within a government or large enterprise environment.

This is a hybrid position based in Raleigh, NC. While remote flexibility is allowed, the contractor will be required to be onsite as requested for team collaboration and project milestones.
