Software Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer with an active Top Secret Clearance (or higher) to support a high-impact federal program focused on delivering advanced, AI-powered mission solutions for government customers. As part of a forward-leaning engineering team, you'll help design and implement scalable systems capable of processing massive data volumes with speed, precision, and reliability. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that drive real-world results and strengthen critical national missions. This role is Hybrid out of Washington D.C. Responsibilities of the Software Engineer: Design and develop scalable applications using Python, Java, C++, or TypeScript, driving innovation across mission systems Build and deploy microservices and RESTful APIs using Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS to deliver secure, reliable solutions Implement automation and integration within AWS or Azure environments leveraging modern CI/CD frameworks Contribute to infrastructure-as-code solutions with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation for streamlined deployment and configuration Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance performance, scalability, and security of distributed systems Support data-driven and AI-enabled applications, integrating with APIs, pipelines, and analytics frameworks Participate in system architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and documentation to ensure long-term maintainability Qualifications for the Software Engineer: 3-7 years of professional software development experience Proficiency in one or more core languages: Python, Java, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure cloud services and modern DevOps practices Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and agile development methodologies Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs in distributed environments Preferred Skills: Exposure to AI/ML integration, model deployment, or data-intensive systems Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka or Kinesis Understanding of security, compliance, and cloud governance in federal environments Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline Compensation and Benefits: $170,000 - $260,000+ *Dependent on experience* Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays, with generous bonuses
