Qualifications
Education/Certification: Master’s degree from an accredited university (preferred)
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Teacher certification in ESL or Bilingual Education (preferred)
Early Childhood certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills: comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and technology
Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of dual language research and program implementation
Experience: three years as a classroom teacher in an ESL, Bilingual Role, or Early Childhood classroom
Experience in a district vertical alignment team
Leadership experience (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Develop, promote, and support curriculum aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, PreK Guidelines, and English Language Proficiency Standards, fostering self-worth, critical thinking, and language acquisition.
Collaborate with principals, teachers, and district personnel to coordinate a strong academic and linguistic program.
Participate in textbook adoption and candidate selection processes.
Monitor instructional processes systematically to verify program effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
Evaluate and recommend improvements in instructional design, materials, and implementation.
Develop evaluation instruments to guide program improvement and monitor student progress.
Use evaluation data for continuous program improvement.
Plan instructional programs to meet identified needs and support innovative instruction.
Assist teachers in designing differentiated learning experiences.
Promote a positive, caring climate for learning and collaborative district/team culture.
Support and monitor program fidelity to achieve district mission and goals.
Demonstrate skill in instructional coaching of individual teachers and collaborative teams.
Design and facilitate professional learning for district-wide and content-area goals.
Secure consultants, specialists, materials, and community resources to meet program objectives.
Implement and monitor policies per federal, state, and local regulations, and stay informed of TEA, regional, and supervisor updates.
Report status of performance to the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Contribute to budget development by submitting cost estimates based on documented program needs.
Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior; model excellence for staff and students.
Follow all Gonzales ISD policies, directives, attendance rules, and perform other administrative or supervisory assignments.
Communicate district curriculum, instructional practices, accomplishments, and goals.
Working Conditions
Maintain emotional control under stress.
Daily district-wide travel and occasional statewide travel.
Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
Position dependent upon federal funding.
