Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:30 am–5:00 pm (or 9:00 am–5:30 pm)

Pay Scale: $43,680.00–$61,953.00

Position Summary The Kuo Lab at CHLA seeks an enthusiastic and highly motivated Associate Research Specialist. The ideal candidate will follow protocols accurately, maintain meticulous records, and present data and results to the research team. This role offers the opportunity to learn and apply essential techniques and methods for molecular biology and cancer biology studies.

Responsibilities

Perform basic molecular biology work, including DNA extraction/isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequencing preparation, RNA extraction, qRT-PCR, protein extraction/quantification, enzyme assays, cell culture, and microscopy/imaging.

Receive and apply training in the use of zebrafish models.

Assist in studies focused on the tumor immune microenvironment of Ewing sarcoma, notably investigating cross‑talk and signaling networks between tumor‑associated macrophages and cancer cells.

Maintain accurate records and effectively convey findings to the research team.

Qualifications

Experience working in a laboratory environment (required).

Preferred: 1+ year(s) of laboratory research experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Prior experience with animal models in a research setting highly valued.

Background in molecular and cancer biology is desired.

Willingness to receive training for those lacking specific experience.

Education A Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field (e.g., biology, microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, engineering). Applicants must have completed their Bachelor’s degree by the anticipated start date.

Final determination of starting pay will vary based on educational and experiential factors. Additional pay may be awarded for candidates exceeding specified qualifications.
