We are seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator/Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful planning and execution of electrical projects. As a Cost Estimator IV, you will support the PMO Program Controls and report to the Manager and Chief Estimator.
Responsibilities
Plan and participate in the preparation of construction cost estimates for buildings and structures from drawings, outlines, and specifications.
Prepare estimates based on design scope and building type.
Evaluate cost estimating deliverables prepared by consultants to ensure cost containment, accuracy, uniformity, and completeness.
Prepare fair cost estimates for contractor proposals for extra work.
Perform special studies and prepare reports when contractor bids deviate from the construction cost estimate.
Conduct construction/project site visits, gather relevant information, and use it to produce project estimates.
Evaluate pricing documents, historical and vendor cost data to develop cost estimates and price recommendations.
Evaluate quotes, bids, change orders, value engineering reports, and claims for accuracy and completeness of estimates.
Compile and analyze data on factors influencing costs such as material, labor, equipment, and profit.
Prepare technical evaluations, draft cost estimating reports, memos, and letters, and present recommendations to management.
Demonstrate familiarity with CSI Master Format and other major new divisions.
Perform additional related estimating duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
10‑15 years of recent professional experience preparing complete cost estimates for Types I, II, III, and V building construction.
Two years in a supervisory capacity.
Expertise in theories, principles, and practices of cost estimating and contract pricing.
Expertise in Job Order Contracting (JOC) form of contracting.
Full knowledge of construction methods for buildings and structures.
Full knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs.
Extensive experience developing and estimating the scope of work for change orders.
Ability to compare cost estimates with contractors' proposals to identify discrepancies quickly.
Ability to develop scope of work based on RFI/RFC answers and estimate detailed costs independently of contractor proposals.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education, year for year.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in using eGordian database for JOC estimating.
Knowledge of prevailing wage/union labor rates.
Knowledge and use of RS Means (including NECA and MCAA) labor productivity.
Knowledge and use of RS Means Cost Estimating online system.
