About the Role CMP Services is seeking a highly skilled
Estimator IV – General Trades
to support the Los Angeles Community College District’s capital program. This senior-level role is ideal for an experienced construction cost estimator with deep expertise in general trades, cost control, and contract pricing. You will work closely with the PMO Program Controls Manager and Chief Estimator to develop and review accurate and comprehensive project cost estimates for a variety of building types.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare construction cost estimates based on drawings, outlines, and specifications.
Evaluate consultant cost estimates for accuracy, completeness, and cost containment.
Develop fair cost estimates for contractor proposals and extra work.
Conduct site visits to gather data for cost development.
Analyze historical and vendor cost data to support pricing recommendations.
Review and assess quotes, bids, change orders, and value engineering reports.
Compile and analyze material, labor, equipment, and profit factors.
Prepare cost reports, technical evaluations, and recommendations to management.
Apply CSI Master Format standards (Uni-format is a plus).
Support other estimating duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
10–15 years of recent professional experience preparing complete cost estimates for building construction (Type I, II, III, and V), including 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
Expertise in cost estimating principles, contract pricing, and Job Order Contracting (JOC).
Strong knowledge of construction methods, local labor and material costs, and change order estimating.
Proven ability to compare and analyze contractor proposals and develop independent estimates.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, or related field (experience may substitute for education).
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with eGordian JOC estimating software.
Knowledge of Prevailing Wage/Union labor rates.
Experience with RS Means, including NECA and MCAA productivity standards.
Familiarity with RS Means Online Cost Estimating System.
