This position is responsible for overall continuous improvement efforts for their respective facilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, research, layout, process development, operating procedures, standard work, lean activities, and implementation and process improvement projects. Liaison with product engineering to support plant floor processes, tooling, fixtures, etc. for model year changes to meet ongoing product design specifications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Production Engineering Team and Plants, to Identify and Implement Continuous Improvement projects
  • Supports research, design and the development of safe manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
  • Assist team in driving process consistency and standardization across all shifts with framework; Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity/ Cost
  • Lead Projects - Establish timelines, dates, and tasks required to successfully close out projects. Develop and communicate technical requirements in a highly collaborative environment. Assign clear tasks to specific team members and follow up until complete, escalating as needed to Engineering Manager and others
  • Identify and Evaluate automation project potentials. Develop justifications and present to management for review
  • Support the operational team and contribute ideas to help improve overall efficiency
  • Promote a Safe work environment. Conduct safety audits of Facility areas and escalate safety issues as identified.
  • Performs a cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the financial feasibility of potential process improvements
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of the facilities property, buildings and equipment
  • Designs, develops, and tests and/or sources and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for the safe manufacturing of products
  • Works with product engineering to support current product support initiatives as well as facilitates and assures the smooth introduction of product changes at model year change including processes, tooling, fixtures, etc.
  • Programming of CNC extrusion bending machines to create parts to print and programming of CNC routers for plywood decks, Hurricane stringers, plastic parts, etc.to design engineering prints. Support of same types of equipment.
  • Create and maintain documentation as required by the Quality System. These activities include creation and revision of Control Plans, Flow Charts, Standard Work Sheets, SPC charts, and other assigned documentation
  • Performs work measurement analysis using time studies or predetermined motion time systems to develop optimal work processes
  • Prepares capital projects for new equipment and processes
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Manufacturing Engineering
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Four-year degree in related engineering field
  • Knowledge of Welding Processes -- TIG, MIG
  • Minimum 3 Years Manufacturing / Industry experience
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, quality, tooling, tool design, preventative maintenance and engineering processes/methods
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution
  • Experience building engineered labor standards
  • Performs successfully in a high change environment; Able to quickly and effectively transition between tasks
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and CAD
  • Knowledge and experience with Value Stream Mapping
  • Proven skills in Project Management
  • Knowledge of various project management methodologies
  • Cost and risk management skills
  • Facility Layout and Design experience preferred
  • CAD Software - SolidWorks, AutoCAD
  • Productivity Software: MS Office Suite, Smartsheet
