The NorDx Phlebotomy School is designed to provide students with the clinical knowledge and competency to become a highly skilled Phlebotomist and the opportunity to earn while learning. All students chosen for the School are paid, full‑time, benefited employees and will transfer to a permanent Medical Lab Assistant I position, receiving a significant pay increase upon successful completion of the course.

Once in the permanent position, you will have opportunities to advance and grow through additional company‑provided training. Advancement opportunities include Medical Lab Assistant II, Mentor, Group Lead, Supervisor, Manager and Clinical Lab Training positions.

Role Overview

No healthcare experience necessary. Training Details

These six‑week courses are scheduled to start November 10, December 8, and January 5.

  • Phlebotomy techniques and blood collection
  • Customer service skills
  • Regulatory, ethical, and legal issues
  • Standard precautions, infection control, and workplace safety
  • Specimen processing
  • Order entry
  • Clinical rotation

Student Responsibilities

The student Phlebotomy works under the guidance of assigned laboratory leadership and is taught how to perform proper specimen collection, handling, and processing, as well as training in our laboratory computer information systems. To successfully complete the program, students must:

  • Commit to working as a Phlebotomist for a NorDx lab immediately upon completion for at least 18 months
  • Pass all aspects of classroom training including quizzes/tests, clinical practice hours, and other hands‑on activities
  • Complete a minimum of 200 sticks by the end of training
  • Follow direction from the Pre‑Analytic Trainers and mentors; be signed off by a supervisor or mentor as competent
  • Follow all departmental and organizational procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrate excellent service to patients

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to work any shift, holiday and/or weekend as needed
