We work on projects ranging from minor asphalt repairs to large commercial construction projects. Byrne & Jones Construction can handle everything outside the building—no job is too big or too small. Byrne & Jones is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in the greater Kansas City area who will perform highly complex, challenging construction and maintenance work by operating various types of heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, dozers, derricks, pile drivers, and pavers, to accomplish difficult or highly complex tasks
• Pre-job planning with the project manager
• Mobilization of the crew truck and job trailer
• Conduct and participate in safe working environments, including daily huddles, job safety assessments, toolbox talks, and stretching program
• Coordination of material deliveries
• Ability to communicate effectively with the owner/architect/engineer
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience operating construction equipment
• Valid driver’s license
• CDL license preferred

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to operate heavy equipment physically
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand to operate and repair heavy equipment
• Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
