Human Resources Generalist to support plant operations in Parsons, Kansas.
This role is responsible for executing a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, compliance, training, union relations, and program administration. It supports both hourly and salaried employees in a manufacturing environment and plays a key role in ensuring the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Recruit, interview, test, and select employees to fill vacant positions.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals.
- Maintain records of personnel transactions such as performance reviews and employee statistics for government reporting.
- Train management in the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
- Support applicable HR programs to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
- Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Conduct investigations, recommend actions to effectively resolve policy violations, seek counsel from Legal when necessary, and elevate matters to regional HR leadership as appropriate.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on various HR metrics including headcount, turnover, hours worked, etc.
- Support production supervisors with the hourly employee performance review process.
- Act as the go‑to HR person for managers and employees.
- Develop effective working relationships with local management and employees to influence and coach them on employment practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent with a minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources.
- Associate’s Degree in a related field or equivalent with a minimum of five years of experience in Human Resources.
- Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work in close collaboration with all levels of employees while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills and decision‑making abilities.
- Effective and professional communication and organization skills.
Preferred
- Experience as a human resources generalist in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with unions.
- Demonstrated knowledge of affirmative action plans and the legal foundations of recruiting.
- PHR or SPHR certification.
