Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Technician to join our Finance Team. The role is responsible for processing payroll, monitoring fixed assets, and supporting annual financial audits.
Essential Duties
- Receive and review employee time and attendance data and payroll changes; process bi‑weekly payroll and respond to compensation inquiries.
- Maintain subsidiary ledgers, reconcile with the general ledger, prepare and enter journal entries, and perform bank and account reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset records for purchases, sales, and depreciation.
- Support the annual financial audit by preparing schedules for auditors.
- Receive and review information for posting to job cost and special project summaries and prepare journal entries to record related activity.
- Provide backup and support for other positions in the department.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED plus two years of specialized training in finance or accounting; or an associate’s degree in accounting or finance; or two years of college courses in finance or accounting.
- Minimum of three years of experience with payroll processing applications and financial accounting systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Above‑average skills with Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
- Team‑player with a service‑oriented attitude, professional demeanor, and strong work ethic.
- Knowledge of fixed‑asset accounting and general ledger maintenance.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary range: $51,189 – $76,782
