The successful candidate will assist in protecting the University’s digital assets, support information security initiatives, monitor network and system security, and contribute to the ongoing development of our cybersecurity posture. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in higher education cybersecurity and grow within a collaborative, mission-driven environment.**Key Responsibilities*** Monitor and analyze network traffic, logs, and alerts to identify potential security incidents.* Participate in vulnerability management, including regular scans, remediation tracking, and patch verification.* Support identity and access management (IAM) processes, including user provisioning and permissions auditing.* Help implement and maintain cybersecurity policies, endpoint protection solutions, standards, and best practices across campus systems.* Respond to security events under the guidance of senior cybersecurity staff and assist in incident investigations.* Support cybersecurity awareness initiatives for faculty, staff, and students.* Collaborate with network, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure systems are securely configured.* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current cybersecurity threats, tools, and compliance requirements.**Qualifications****Required:*** Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.* Foundational knowledge of network protocols, system administration, and security concepts.* Experience (coursework, internship, or practical) with identity management, antivirus systems, or security monitoring tools.* Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.**Preferred:*** Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+, or GIAC Security Essentials).* Familiarity with SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, Azure Sentinel), endpoint protection, or vulnerability management tools.* Experience in higher education or enterprise IT environments.**Working Conditions*** Full-time, on-site position located in Williamsburg, Kentucky.* May require occasional after-hours or weekend work during security incidents or maintenance windows.Cumberlands is different by design.
