Overview 14164 – Utility-Scale Power & Controls Engineer (SCADA /EMS/ PLC/ Inverter) (remote, up to 25% travel) – Juno Beach, FL

Estimated Duration 12 months with possible extensions

Work Setting Remote with frequent trips to Juno Beach, FL. Travel up to 25% for project commissioning support

Required Qualifications

Experience with EMS platforms (Hitachi Network Manager EMS preferred; GE e-terra or Siemens Spectrum experience acceptable). (1+ year)

Experience with power system operations, SCADA, and EMS applications (SE, CA, OPF).

Experience with network modeling, telemetry mapping, and database management.

Experience with ICCP/TASE.2, RTU protocols (DNP3, IEC 60870-5), and EMS front-end processors.

Experience in cybersecurity practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NERC CIP).

Experience in scripting (PowerShell, Python) for automation and bulk data management.

Experience with drawings packages and OEM specifications versus installed equipment to confirm it meets design and manufacturer standards.

Experience with SCADA and communication schematics and drawings.

Experience with automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP and others)

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

PLC, SCADA Programmer – Required

Experience in PLC programming, preferably Schneider Electric platforms (5+ years);

Experience in Modbus, DNP3, and industrial communication protocols

Experience with Ignition SCADA platform and HMI development

Experience with power systems and utility-scale energy project

Experience in utility-scale renewable energy or power generation projects

Experience with BESS control systems, inverters, and energy storage technologies

Experience with grid interconnection requirements and utility standards

Experience with FAT/SAT testing procedures and commissioning protocols

Experience with PPA, LGIA, and OEM testing completion

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

PLC, SCADA Programmer – Preferred

NERC CIP cybersecurity experience

Inverter Engineer – Required

Experience in power electronics and utility-scale inverter systems (1+ year)

Experience with advanced inverter functions (volt-var control, frequency response, grid forming)

Experience with power system operations, SCADA, and EMS applications (SE, CA, OPF).

Experience with network, telemetry mapping, and database management.

Experience with ICCP/TASE.2, RTU protocols.

Experience with cybersecurity practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NERC CIP).

Experience in process control commissioning and troubleshooting.

Experience with drawings packages and OEM specifications versus installed equipment to confirm it meets design and manufacturer standards.

Experience with SCADA and communication schematics and drawings.

Experience automation protocols (Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP and others)

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related technical field

Responsibilities

Network Manager, Engineer Responsibilities:

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Hitachi Network Manager EMS applications and real-time databases;

Manage SCADA/telemetry integration (RTUs, ICCP links) and ensure data quality for real-time operations;

Support network model build and maintenance, including topology processing and connectivity validation.

Inverter Engineer Responsibilities:

Lead factory integration testing (FIT) for utility-scale inverters (1MW+ capacity) ensuring comprehensive pre-deployment validation

Execute and support site acceptance testing (SAT) including functional, performance, and grid compliance testing protocols

Coordinate and witness all required PPA, LGIA, and OEM testing until passing criteria are met prior to COD

PLC, SCADA Programmer Responsibilities:

Expert-level PLC programming for BESS and solar projects using Schneider M340/M580 platforms

Develop, modify, and optimize control logic for utility-scale energy storage systems

Create and maintain standardized PLC code libraries and templates

Implement advanced control algorithms for hybrid PV-BESS operations

For all roles

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently on a daily basis.

Standing on feet for extended periods of time.

Ability to work at desk position in front of a computer monitor for extensive periods of time.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle for purposes of commuting between 2 working locations.
