Role Highlights:

Position: Lead Data Scientist

Type of work: On-site from Athens.

Work from office requirements: 2 day per week from the office, 3 days per week from the office. 100% remote option is NOT possible.

About the role As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be responsible for driving the delivery of advanced AI features by guiding a skilled team of data scientists and ML engineers. This leadership role is hands-on and strategic, combining people management with technical vision. You will define the roadmap for machine learning initiatives, oversee development workflows, and ensure AI-powered solutions are successfully deployed and optimized in production environments.

Tech stack The environment is built on Python’s ML ecosystem and includes strong MLOps integration. Deep learning, distributed data processing (e.g., Spark), and cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., Azure, Databricks) are part of the broader data science toolkit.

What will you do

Lead a team of 5–7 data science and machine learning professionals.

Align AI projects with business and product goals through problem framing and prioritization.

Perform data exploration and develop features that enhance model performance.

Apply best practices for model training, evaluation, and deployment.

Conduct experiments to assess and compare various algorithms and approaches.

Guide end-to-end delivery of AI products — from data ingestion to production-ready models.

Mentor team members, promote knowledge sharing, and lead complex projects from a technical perspective.

Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure the effective integration of ML components.

Ideally you bring

Proven experience managing technical teams in data science or ML domains.

Expert-level knowledge of machine learning algorithms and theory.

Practical experience delivering machine learning models into production environments.

Familiarity with MLOps workflows and tools.

Proficiency in Python and solid object-oriented programming skills.

Strong understanding of deep learning frameworks and applications.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.

Fluency in English, written and spoken.

(Nice to have) Hands-on experience with Spark or PySpark in cloud ecosystems like Azure or Databricks.

(Nice to have) Experience in pricing optimization, time-series forecasting, or related predictive modeling domains.
