Yavapai County is seeking a motivated and detail-orientated planning professional to join our Development Services team. This position plays a key role is supporting responsible land use and community growth through the review and analysis of development proposals, zoning, and subdivision applications. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, a commitment to public service, and an interest in helping shape the future of Yavapai County. This position may be filled at the Planner I or II level depending on candidate's background, experience, and qualifications. Hiring Range for Planner I: $27.03 to $34.46 hourly Hiring Range for Planner II: $29.80 to $37.99 hourly

Interacts with the public, explaining rules, regulations, and reviews development proposals, etc. Reviews and processes applications for use permits, re-zonings, sketch plans, subdivision plats, and building permits. Analyzes and summarizes information as needed in project planning and responding to public issues. Conducts special studies including research and identifies and assesses the impact of the solution. Answers general and complex questions both telephonically and in-person. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Planner II: Processes zoning map changes, use permits, use permit amendments, preliminary plats, final plats, variances, and major pad amendments. Assists permit applicants with various permit applications. Interacts with the public, explaining rules, regulations, and reviews development proposals, etc. Reviews and processes applications for use permits, re-zonings, sketch plans, subdivision plats, and building permits. Analyzes and summarizes information as needed in project planning and responding to public issues. Conducts special studies including research and identifies and assesses the impact of the solution. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Urban or Regional Planning or closely related field.
Experience: Planner I:
No experience required. Planner II:
A minimum of three (3) years of professional planning experience.
An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education on a year-per-year basis, or four (4) years directly related work experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
