IT Infrastructure Supervisor – Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
Role Summary:
Under the direction of the Sr. IT Telecommunications Manager, the IT Infrastructure Supervisor leads and supports a team of IT Infrastructure Specialists. This role focuses on day-to-day supervision, coaching, and performance oversight while driving successful execution of infrastructure projects and operational initiatives. The Supervisor ensures that all work related to data, voice, backbone fiber systems, and communications rooms is delivered efficiently and consistently in alignment with airport standards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities • Leads the identification and resolution of infrastructure system issues, assigning tasks to team members based on skill sets and urgency, while providing guidance to ensure effective problem-solving and follow‑through.
• Oversees communication room access and security, maintains access logs, and coordinates contractor escorts into critical areas with a focus on operational integrity and compliance.
• Directs the team’s documentation efforts for telecommunications, data cabling, fiber backbone, and cabinet rack elevations using Microsoft SharePoint, ensuring accuracy, version control, and knowledge sharing across the group.
• Owns the Remedy ticketing workflow, evaluates and approves service requests, coaches team members on interpreting guidelines and assessing infrastructure readiness, promoting consistent decision‑making and customer‑focused service delivery.
• Leads the design of infrastructure systems for new Airport Board facilities, collaborating with stakeholders while mentoring the team on design principles, scalability, and alignment with long‑term airport standards.
• Oversees infrastructure installations in new and renovated facilities, assigning team responsibilities, ensuring milestone tracking, and conducting final inspections to maintain project quality and timelines.
• Manages the acquisition and lifecycle of critical infrastructure tools and inventory, engaging the team in needs assessments, justifications, and procurement planning to support operational readiness.
• Maintains and evolves the DFW Design Criteria Manual, facilitating team collaboration to incorporate lessons learned, vendor updates, and emerging standards to future‑proof infrastructure planning.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in electronics, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Five (5) plus years of experience working with digital network systems.
Two (2) plus years of lead or supervisory experience.
Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
Possession of a valid class C driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with electronics work.
Knowledge of current BICSI Telecommunications wiring standards.
Knowledge of all National Electric Codes.
Knowledge of fiber optics testing and ability to interpret testing documentation.
Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
Knowledge of networking for configuration and deployment.
Knowledge of multiple software and hardware tools for troubleshooting.
Skill in utilizing advanced mathematical methods and computer modeling.
Ability to create scopes of work and work schedules.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and drawings.
Ability to analyze problems and make recommendations addressing maintenance requirements, manpower availability, contractual obligations, and Airport Board policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to foster a culture promoting accountability, clear communication, recognition of individual contributions, and consistent alignment with organizational goals.
Ability to create procedures and documentation for cable management.
Special Requirements
Obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge within thirty (30) days from start date and maintain qualification for renewal.
Obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from start date and maintain qualification for renewal.
Pass a drug test prior to employment and undergo periodic drug screening as required for safety‑sensitive positions.
Meet the Essential Employee criteria as defined by DFW Airport’s policies.
Obtain the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) certification.
Desirable
Experience with ISX Schneider software.
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
