Symmetrio is seeking a Senior Network Architect to support a large government organization. In this hands-on leadership role, you will drive enterprise-level network initiatives, combining deep technical expertise with strategic architectural vision.
The ideal candidate will help stabilize and enhance network infrastructure, ensuring high availability across data center, WAN, and security environments. Responsibilities include the design and implementation of Juniper and Palo Alto solutions supporting VoIP, IP video, and other high-demand services.
This is an on-site position in Philadelphia, requiring full-time presence five days per week. The salary range for this role is $135,000 to $185,000, based on experience.
Responsibilities
Design and deploy scalable and secure WAN, LAN, and data center networks leveraging Juniper MX, EX, and QFX platforms
Lead network architecture and cutovers for MPLS core environments, including L2/L3 VPNs, Traffic Engineering, and RSVP/LDP
Develop and optimize complex BGP routing policies for multi-homed internet connectivity and inter-AS routing
Implement Quality of Service (QoS) for VoIP and IP Video environments to ensure consistent performance
Architect and maintain network infrastructure for large-scale IP Video Surveillance (IPVS) systems
Configure and manage Palo Alto and Juniper SRX firewalls, including policies, VPNs, and segmentation strategies
Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis for high-volume video and voice transport
Provide senior-level escalation support for complex network issues and lead root cause investigations
Collaborate closely with network operations teams to ensure seamless integration and operational continuity
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive network engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an architect or lead role
Deep hands‑on experience with Juniper MX, EX/QFX, and SRX platforms
Expert‑level understanding of BGP, MPLS (LDP, RSVP‑TE), and VPN architectures
Proficient with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama management
Demonstrated experience with QoS, VoIP, and IP video network design and troubleshooting
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred
Juniper certifications (JNCIP, JNCIE, or equivalent)
Experience automating configurations (Python, Ansible, or similar)
Background supporting large‑scale public sector or enterprise network environments
