Position Overview As our Quality Control (QC) Engineer you will provide QC engineering support for projects including next generation nuclear reactor design; reactor component development and fabrication; and advanced manufacturing technology development.

Location On-site in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office

Your Day to Day as a Quality Control Engineer

Develop inspection and test plans, as well as work packages, including the determination of inspection methods.

Write, review, and qualify inspection procedures.

Assist with the development of manufacturing plans.

Assist the design team with the identification of test methods for design verification and validation activities.

Oversee dimensional inspection personnel and perform inspections as necessary.

Research, evaluate, and qualify new inspection equipment and techniques.

Support current inspection equipment and systems.

Provide support and oversight for engineering, development, and testing activities.

Participate in review and disposition of nonconformances.

Prepare QA data packages.

Assist in identifying quality requirements for procurements and review supplier proposals.

Review supplier inspection plans and procedures.

Review supplier quality documentation.

Perform source inspections and surveillances at suppliers.

Create/maintain metrics for inspection.

Support additional assignments by management.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience is required.

Must have demonstrated understanding of dimensional inspection techniques.

Must have the ability to read and interpret complex drawings including understanding of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Must have knowledge of inspection tools, systems, techniques and NDE methods.

Must have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task.

Must have demonstrated proficiency in generating technical reports and presentations using MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with product development and prototyping is desired.

Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, NQA-1, ASME NCA-4000 and NASA is desired.

Pay: $102,000.00- $154,000.00. The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $102,000.00 and $154,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate.
