Position Overview Quality Control (QC) Engineer

– you will provide QC engineering support for projects including next‑generation nuclear reactor design, reactor component development and fabrication, and advanced manufacturing technology development.

Location On‑site in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office.

Your Day To Day As a Quality Control Engineer

Develop inspection and test plans, as well as work packages, including the determination of inspection methods.

Write, review, and qualify inspection procedures.

Assist with the development of manufacturing plans.

Assist the design team with the identification of test methods for design verification and validation activities.

Oversee dimensional inspection personnel and perform inspections as necessary.

Research, evaluate, and qualify new inspection equipment and techniques.

Support current inspection equipment and systems.

Provide support and oversight for engineering, development, and testing activities.

Participate in review and disposition of nonconformances.

Prepare QA data packages.

Assist in identifying quality requirements for procurements and review supplier proposals.

Review supplier inspection plans and procedures.

Review supplier quality documentation.

Perform source inspections and surveillances at suppliers.

Create/maintain metrics for inspection.

Support additional assignments by management.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated understanding of dimensional inspection techniques.

Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, including ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

Knowledge of inspection tools, systems, techniques and NDE methods.

Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi‑task.

Proficiency in generating technical reports and presentations using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

U.S. Citizen.

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with product development and prototyping.

Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, NQA-1, ASME NCA-4000 and NASA.

Pay:

$102,000.00 - $154,000.00 per year. Base salary is based on local market factors and may vary according to experience, skills and business considerations. Total compensation may include an annual cash incentive and other benefits.

Applicants selected will be subject to a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Position requires U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance involving an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and prior employment reference verifications.
