Accounting Manager Job at Mar Lan Construction in Lawrence

Overview

Mar Lan Construction is seeking a detail-oriented professional who will be responsible for all accounting and financial activities of the company, and for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities

• Finance and accounting
  • Oversee all accounts payable and receivable
  • Maintenance of general ledger
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and accrual entries
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for executive review
  • Maintain company equipment & vehicle records
  • Maintain depreciation schedule with Accounting firm
  • Assist Accounting firm with tax preparation
  • Maintain subcontractor certificates of insurance
• Project-specific accounting
  • Track project-specific costs, including labor, materials, and overhead
  • Place appropriate invoices in line for payment
  • File job invoices in job file for monthly payment application preparation
  • Prepare monthly pay applications for jobs and work orders
  • Write checks to vendors after approval and as directed
  • Maintain sales tax exemption files and records
  • Prepare and track work orders, work order job cost, and work order billing
• Compliance and Controls
  • Ensure all financial activities adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Maintain records to support internal and external audits and assist with auditors
  • Collect and track lien waivers from subcontractors and vendors
  • Prepare and file State and local sales and use tax payments
• Payroll
  • Manage payroll preparation for field and office personnel
  • Prepare and file all State and Federal payroll reports
  • Have knowledge of Certified Payroll requirements and filing procedures

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred
• Specific experience in construction or project-based accounting strongly preferred
• Expertise in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Proficient communication and organizational skills are essential
